Welcome to the district of Schwyz

 The district Schwyz covers well half of the canton area, however only almost two fifth of the number of inhabitants. Thus it is, relative to inhabitants and surface, the by far largest of the six districts. The area corresponds approximately to the old country of Schwyz, which had historical importance during the last centuries.
